The Secret of the Nagas review

The Secret of the Nagas (Shiva Trilogy #2)The Secret of the Nagas by Amish Tripathi
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow!!! Spell-bounding book . I never thought it would be such a great novel , finished it in one day :D . I couldn't put it down , till I finished it :) . The story line was placed pretty nicely and there were some twists and turns that I didn't see coming but they were great . Also , the message that this book sent through Shiva's story is very relevant and applicable in today's world and in our lives. The fact that good and evil is within us and its our choice to choose from them is nicely told in this story . The fun aspect comes from totally opposite personalities of General of Meluha and Princess of Swasdeep. Really happy to find this trilogy , got everything in it . Can't wait to start the third book :).

The Immortals of Meluha review

The Immortals of Meluha (Shiva Trilogy #1)The Immortals of Meluha by Amish Tripathi
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

After a long time I read a book from an Indian author and I have to say I wasn't disappointed :) . This novel is written in very simple language and used Indian mythology which was pretty cool idea because I was able to connect with it very quickly :). Once I was able to forget the actual story of Lord Shiva and read it as it was written without trying to verify the facts it was great reading :).
This novel also provided some insights into how we can turn ourselves into destroyer of evil :) . It is pretty much relevant to what we all are facing currently in our world. A nicely written story of how a tribal person went on to become a Mahadev and fight against evil and humble enough to accept his mistakes :). Can't wait to start the second book in this series :).

The Oath of the Vayuputras

The Oath of the Vayuputras (Shiva Trilogy, #3)The Oath of the Vayuputras by Amish Tripathi
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Well I was just a bit disappointed with the final book in the Trilogy , it was not as good as the first two books , specially the second book which was awesome with pace and story line. The fact that a lot of space and time was given to describe a lot of structures in different places . I have to say at one point I got lost in the names of the places. Also the fact not much was told about the lab for Somras which was the main point in the last part was a bit of a downer . It was as if Amish just wanted the story to end a bit quickly by using the weapon . I don't mind reading a long book but the pace should be nice , it should not end too hastily . Also , I couldn't understand why Sati gave two different messages to her sons . I mean I couldn't understand this part . Sati was the hero of this book according to me  and the use of the weapon by Shiva to avenge her death showed his human side and love for his wife . Overall , a good trilogy , never thought something like this would come from an Indian author , no disrespect to Indian authors :) . I am glad I was surprised by this Trilogy :) :). Easy and simple style to writing and pretty easy to connect with today's world and our lives . As the author showed in the trilogy , Har Har MahaDv ( Each one is God ) :) :).

First Movie with Mom :)

I first saw a movie in a movie hall when I was in second year of college . It was a big thing for me then as it was my first time going to a movie hall and I had gone for the movie by lying to my warden . If I would have been caught , my parents would have been called and I can only imagine what might have happened to me had I been caught. I was excited and nervous at the same time. It was a great experience , also the movie was great :).

After that I have seen many movies at theaters but still my family had no clue about them. I never told them because they would have never allowed me to go . I used to think that they would say that its bad thing to go to movie theaters as people who go there are not good people. My dad is very conservative about such things but my mom is pretty cool :) .

I think of my mom as a superwoman. She does everything day in, day out without any complains!!! . She looks after the home , teaches kids in school . I mean she's working from the time she gets up till she sleeps. She's a school teacher . She teaches Hindi , India's official language in a public school. She's been teaching since last 22 years. She used to tell me that her lecturer in college took her class out for a movie on their last day in college. She said she last saw a movie 26 years ago.

I always used to think that when I'll be able to earn on my own I'll take her out for movies. Its been two years since I have been working and I didn't take her out for a movie thinking that she won't like today's movie as they would be a bit of shock for her now . Since the last movie she saw was way different then they are made now . However , I finally got an opportunity to take her out for a movie . We saw the movie with 2 of my friends and their mother . It was a great experience . I had already seen this movie and in between I would glance over to where my mom was sitting just to see if she was enjoying herself or not. When I saw the smile on her face while watching the movie , it was the most amazing feeling for me. She enjoyed certain songs too about which I was a bit apprehensive that she won't like them. She surprised me a bit. She made a new friend too :) .

While coming back , she told me that she was glad she came for the movie with me :) . I liked the fact that I could take her out for the movie and give her a break from her routine work and make her happy. She got so busy with taking care of our family that she forgot about herself and I am determined to make sure that she enjoys herself now. Its just the beginning of seeing movies and doing fun stuff with my mom :). Content is what we both were after that movie , a rare feeling in this fast faced world :) .

Life on bench :) :(

Life on bench is like walking on a tight rope hanging between two poles, one wrong move and you are gone. It can be really tough to be on bench sometimes and sometimes it may feel very good when you see people around you slogging at work and you don't have to worry about any work. But as I wrote before its like walking on a tight rope.

I have been sitting on bench for almost 4 months now even though I have worked on say 3 projects till now . Now don't get the impression that I was thrown out of these projects because I didn't work but it was becuase the projects went into production or were already in production when I went in those projects , so there was no work in them . It was more like getting to know about the products of the company , how things work in a corporate world and stuff like that. I did learn quite a bit about them too . Yet it was not the kind of work which I had imagined myself to be doing when I entered my company .

There have been so many days when I just come to the office and sit on my desk for 9 hours , staring at my PC , going from one website to another , wandering aimlessly till the time it comes for me to leave for home . It is really frustrating when one has to sit at one place and stare at the PC for so long :( :X .  My friends tell me that this is my honeymoon period in the company because when I'll get work I will not get any free time . May be they are correct but as a fresher I would like to work and apply my skills then wait for such a long time and do nothing . Its very tough to sit idle for me . Also there is too much of uncertanity when it comes to your future when you are on bench . One may get fired if there is no work :O .

The thing which is more frustrating is that when I have to stay late for work at office even when I am not in that project :X . You do the work and you don't get any recoginiton for that since you are not in the project :X , now that is very frustrating :X . Then when I go home I have to answer my parents' questions , " Did u get any project?  What do you do there if you have no work ? Blah blah.. " . Huh!! now that is the last thing I want to do when I  reach home , answering questions about my work :X .

I never thought that enjoying my honeymoon period with the company would be so tough :P .

The only thing which makes life on bench to be bearable is the salary which I get even without doing much work :P . Now who wouldn't like getting paid for doing very less work ? :P

Birthday Treats ;)

Before I start  I  want to tell everyone that its been 11 days and I m still in a very good mood :D . You must be thinking what is so  great in this but its just that whenever I get happy one thing or the other goes wrong and again I get in not so happy mood :P.

Ok , now I was thinking about writing something about my interesting b'day treats which I have given to my friends and myself :P . I know most of us give treats to  friends on our b'day and its all fun except the part when you have to pay the bill for the treats :P .

I like it more when I have to go a b'day party but I haven't been to many b'day parties :( . But in a way that is  fine with me because when you go to a party that too a b'day , firstly ,  one has to buy a gift , secondly,  there is that added burden to invite that person too your party otherwise that would look rude :P .

Before I go any further , this is to some of my friends whom I have invited to my b'day treats which have been very few , I really meant to invite you and had great fun , also I enjoyed paying the bill for the treats because it wasn't my money , that was my Dad's money ;) , so , don't feel offended by this blog ;) . This doen't mean I don't value my Dad's money , I do value it alot :) but I didn't have to think too much while spending it  . Actually, now that I am earning I am having more fun partying and giving treats :D .

I'll tell you the truth about these so called treats of mine :P . I  gave very few b'day treats when I was in school not because my parents didn't give me money , they did give me money , I have got great parents , but I used to give treat to myself only and not to my friends :P . You know pampering myself ;) . All my b'days have been very interesting and when you'll read further I guess you will agree with me :P.

I am going to start with the day I was born , now the timing of my birth , now I mean literal time :P , is a bit of an issue between me and my Mom :P . I say that I was born around 8 at night whereas my Mom says that I was born around 7:45 at night . I know you must be thinking that its obvious that my Mom is correct because she gave birth to me but I have a point she wasn't looking at the clock when she was giving birth to me and anyways I like 8 so I would go by my time :P . Now the next thing I remember about my b'day treat or party was that when I was young say till 5th standard there used to be atleast one bad scene at my place on my b'day :P . Once both my parents got cake for me and then they fought over it , hehehehehehe :P but I never mined getting 2 cakes :P . Obviously I didn't like the fighting part but I couldn't have done anythg in that matter they were adults and me a small girl just waiting to eat my cake :P . I was a very nice girl :P , happy with whatever I got on my b'day ;) .

The next interesting one that comes to my mind is when I got a very good beating from my Mom just one day before my b'day , reason was that I had eaten the whole pack of sweets which my Mom had got for me to distribute in my class :P. Didn't I tell you that I liked to pamper myself more then my friends on my b'day which I guess was a fair enough reason at that time for me to eat all the sweets :P. Obviously my Mom thought otherwise and man! what beating I got from her , still remember it :P .

The thing that I used to do whenever I got pocket money from my parents on my b'day was that I used to go to the canteen and spend the money on me :P . Obviously I used to  tell my parents that everyone was very happy with the treat they got :P . Well, that was school and in college I got very generous on my b'days :) which obviously my parents didn't like :P . In the first year of my college, I gave treat to all the students of first year in my hostel :O . Can you believe it , well I still can't believe it :P . You know what I went to some of them just for formality ,  little did I know that everyone would come :P . There were some girls whose names I didn't even know at that time but I enjoyed it at that point :P . Now when I think about it , I am like that was a crazy thing that I did , giving treat to the whole year :P . But you know the tragedy was that I never got invited to any b'day treats and the next b'day treat that I went to after my b'day was my own , i.e. , in 2nd year of my college :P . But I got wiser this time round and gave treat to a few people and not the whole year but dat time too there were some extra people because they were friends of my friends so I had to invite them :( . Cons of social network :P . But the good thing after that was that I got invited to b'day treats after that :P . I guess people thought I was good person :P . Just kidding ,  I made some very good friends after my first year so ya I got invited to their b'day treats :D .

In my next 2 years I gave treats a day before my b'day because my friends didn't like the lunch that got cooked on 13th of those 2 years :P . I guess that was the most stupid reason that I had given to myself for my b'day treat :P , anywaz I didn't mind giving those treats because they were cheap :P , you know food was never costly in college canteen :D .

Now that I am earning , I have got more wiser when it comes to giving treat to my friends :P . I had 2 parties for 1 bday :P . One with my college friends and one with my office friends . Both were rocking parties :D and to my parents they were pretty cheap parties as I told them so :P . But I guess they know that they weren't ;) .

So I can safely say that I love going to my b'day treats because that is when I get pampered most not just by my friends and family but most of all by me :P . Hope to have many more b'day treats ;)

Best New Year Party till nw ;)

Before I start wish you all a very happy new year :D . Ok now I had this amazing party this time at my friend's place. 31st was my friend Neha's birthday so we stayed at her place on 31st to have new year as well as her birthday celebrations :) . It was amazing party , since I stay very close to her place I was the first one to reach there ( actually I am the one who had no work at that time , so reached early for the party :P) . Now for some reasons her Mom likes me a lot , my friends wonder why ? :P . Actually I am the one who says all the stupid things in front of people not taking care of the fact that they are senior or jubior to me . No wonder my friends always tell em first hand to behave myself , which I have never managed to do so far :P . Anyways since I and few of my friends reached her place first , we did the setting for her gift and  I was given the responsibility to taste the food which was cooked by aunty for us and trust me it was yummy :P . It was one responsibility which I accepted happily :D . Ok now the plan was that we would have bonfire , music , food , gossiping and obviously drinks :P . Nowadays no party of ours is complete without drinks :P . Now since the party was at my friend's place we had to be extra careful becoz all her parents knew was that the plan was that we would have everything except the drinks part :P . So it was kind of fun but at the same time there was this fear that we would get caught but obvisouly we were very smart people , didn't get caught ;) . Drinks were in the car :P .Neha showed up at her place 2 hrs late , she always comes late when she goes out to meet people , so whatever time she gives us we always add 2 more hours to that time :P , but she's a sweetheart :) . Now there were some twists to this whole party , first her cousins showed up at her place , this meant that it would be difficult to have our kind of conversation freely :P . It also meant that we wouldn't be able to drink openly now , it  had to be very discreet :( . After cutting the cake and having some food , we went to the lawn where we had our bonfire , we sat up the music system :) . First it was very boring , since we had the kids and Neha's parents with us and we couldn't talk as we wanted to talk , you know had to maintain the decorum :P . So to set the mood we started the music and started dancing , to lighten up :) . Well we enjoyed the bursting of crackers when new year started , hugged each other , shouting and wishing everyone . There was just one downer for me at that time , I couldn't get across to any of my friends on phone at that time , damn the network :X . It was really very annoying :X . We brought the chips and Pesi that we had brought to the lawn around that time and yes it was checked by aunty :P . But obviously there was nothing in it . Well we danced quite a bit and in between had our drinks mixed in pepsi :P . Finally , after a lot a praying in our hearts :P , when the kids went away and Neha's parents slept we got into form and did some pretty good discussion on the Mahabharata , now  I won't tell u what we discussed  about it but would give you a hint , it was bascially about some 100 kids and stuff :P . It was interesting , mind u dat ;) . We had other discussions too , topics of which I don't remember :P . It was about all the adult topics :P and some crazy ideas :P .  We clicked pics and stayed up the whole night :) . We sang songs with guitar being played by 2 of my friends . It was really great :D . Oh! I missed telling you about one car which made all the noises that night I wonder why :P . Its car alarm kept on ringing after every 10 minutes , which also became a topic of discussion :P ,what was happening inside the car and what would happen if the car owner would do "something" in the car and it would start ringing at that time :P . The car got its share of abuses from us also :P . It was great to see the new year dawn with my friends which otherwise would have been very boring . Neha's parents were shocked to see that we didn't sleep at all :P , who would have ;) . Some of us left around 6 in the morning but I and some others stayed back . That's when we talked about our hostel days and did some bitching :P , now that would happen if 4 girls sat together after a long time ;) . It was great talking in very calm manner after the party , having a cup of tea in the chilly winter morning  with my friends :D . The party finally got over at 9 in the morning but it was by far the best new year party that I had attended :) and a memorable one too :D . No wonder I m still in a good mood ;)
